Self Saucing Butterscotch Pudding is a delightful dessert that creates its own sauce as it bakes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water
  • ½ cup butterscotch sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt until well blended.
  3. In another bowl, combine the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix.
  5. Pour the pudding mixture into a greased 8-inch baking dish or oven-safe bowl.
  6. Slowly pour the hot water over the pudding mixture. Do not stir; the water will create the sauce as it bakes.
  7. Drizzle the butterscotch sauce evenly over the top of the pudding mixture.
  8. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until the top is set and the sauce has formed underneath.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm for the best experience.
  • Pair with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.
