Ingredients
Scale
4 large onions
1 pound ground beef or turkey
1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 large egg
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
Cooking oil spray
Instructions
Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
Prepare the onions: Peel the onions and cut the tops off. Carefully hollow out the insides using a spoon or melon baller, leaving a thick outer layer.
Make the filling: In a bowl, combine ground beef or turkey, shredded cheese, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix until well combined.
Stuff the onions: Generously fill each hollowed onion with the meat mixture, pressing down to pack it tightly.
Arrange on baking sheet: Place the stuffed onions upright on the prepared baking sheet. Spray the tops lightly with cooking oil for a crispier finish.
Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through and the onions are tender.
Cool and serve: Once cooked, remove the onions from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
