Golden crispy shrimp tossed in a creamy, sweet honey glaze and topped with candied walnuts and green onions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Fill a deep pan or wok with oil and heat to 350°F. Prepare paper towels or a wire rack for draining.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water. Simmer, then add walnuts and cook for 2–3 minutes. Remove and cool on parchment.
  3. Whisk egg whites in a bowl until frothy. Add cornstarch and mix. Coat shrimp in this batter evenly.
  4. Fry shrimp in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3–4 minutes per batch. Drain on prepared rack.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, condensed milk, honey, and lemon juice until smooth.
  6. Toss hot shrimp with the sauce gently until coated just enough.
  7. Top with candied walnuts and chopped green onions. Serve immediately.
