Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup crushed Oreo cookies (plus extra for topping)
  • ½ cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Halloween-themed sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Gently fold in the crushed Oreo cookies to the batter.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth and creamy.
  10. Once the cake is completely cooled, spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the top.
  11. Sprinkle additional crushed Oreos and Halloween-themed sprinkles on top for decoration.
  12. Cut into bars and serve them to your eager guests.
