1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Green gel food coloring, a few drops
24 red heart sprinkles or candies
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla and mix until combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients.
Add green gel food coloring and stir until the dough is evenly colored.
Roll dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.
Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are just set. Do not overbake.
While cookies are still warm, gently press a red heart sprinkle into the center of each cookie.
Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
