Ingredients
Scale
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Whipped cream, for topping (optional)
Chocolate shavings, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips to incorporate them evenly into the dough.
Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for five minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once cooled, you can top each cookie with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle with chocolate shavings for a decorative touch.
