Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Maple syrup or powdered sugar for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar. Whisk until well blended.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture. Stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Gently pat it into a rectangle about 1-inch thick. Cut into squares or circles using a biscuit cutter.
  7. Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow them to cool slightly.
