Decadent Gooey Chocolate Cream Cheese Bread Pudding is a rich and indulgent dessert made with day-old bread, cream cheese, milk, and chocolate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups of day-old bread, cubed (such as brioche or challah)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  3. Cut the day-old bread into 1-inch cubes and place them in the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add the granulated sugar, mixing until well combined.
  5. Add the eggs, vanilla extract, cocoa powder, and salt to the cream cheese mixture. Mix until fully incorporated.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole milk and heavy cream. Gradually add this mixture to the cream cheese mixture, stirring until smooth.
  7. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips gently to ensure they are evenly distributed.
  8. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the cubed bread, gently folding to ensure all the bread is coated.
  9. Allow the mixture to sit for about 15 minutes, letting the bread absorb the liquid.
  10. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  11. Once baked, remove the dish from the oven and allow it to cool for about 15-20 minutes before serving.
  12. Before serving, dust the top with powdered sugar for an elegant touch.

Notes

  • Use day-old bread for better texture.
  • Feel free to substitute with different types of chocolate chips.
