These Crumbl Sugar Cookies are a delicious copycat of the popular bakery treat, featuring a soft, thick, and chewy cookie base infused with vanilla and almond flavors, topped with iconic pink almond frosting. They are perfect for any occasion and can be made quickly without chilling the dough.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Sugar Cookies:
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp almond extract
  • 2 ½ cups (313g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • For the Pink Frosting:
  • ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups (240g) powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp almond extract
  • 2–3 tbsp milk or heavy cream
  • A few drops pink food coloring (gel preferred)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until the mixture is fluffy and pale, about 2–3 minutes.
  3. Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix just until a soft dough forms.
  5. Scoop ¼ cup portions of dough and roll them into balls. Flatten slightly with your palm or the bottom of a glass to form large, thick discs.
  6. Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheets and bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are set and the centers are slightly soft. Let cool completely on the tray or a wire rack.
  7. To make the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy. Add powdered sugar, almond extract, and milk or cream until smooth and spreadable. Mix in a few drops of pink food coloring.
  8. Once the cookies are completely cool, generously frost each one with the pink frosting, swirling it over the top. Let the frosting set slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Let the cookies cool fully before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting.
  • Warm the frosting slightly in the microwave for 5–10 seconds for easier spreading.
  • Use room temperature butter for best creaming results.
  • Do not overmix the dough, as it can make the cookies tough.
  • Use gel food coloring for a vibrant pink without thinning the frosting.
  • Space the large cookies at least 2 inches apart on the baking tray.
  • For a smaller version, make 2-tablespoon balls and bake for 8–9 minutes.
