Crock Pot Bread Pudding is a delicious dessert made with bread, eggs, milk, and spices, cooked slowly in a crock pot.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups of bread, cubed (such as French bread or brioche)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Optional mix-ins: ½ cup raisins or dried cranberries, ½ cup chocolate chips, or chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Cube the bread into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl. Allow the bread to stale a bit if it’s fresh.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
  3. Pour the wet mixture over the cubed bread. Stir gently to ensure all bread pieces are soaked well.
  4. If you’re using optional ingredients like raisins, chocolate chips, or nuts, fold them into the mixture.
  5. Prepare the Crock Pot: Grease the inside of your crock pot with cooking spray or butter to prevent sticking.
  6. Transfer Mixture: Pour the bread mixture into the greased crock pot, spreading it evenly.
  7. Cooking Time: Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 2 to 3 hours, or on high for 1 to 1.5 hours. The pudding is done when a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool Slightly: Once cooked, turn off the crock pot and let the bread pudding cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving.
  9. Serve Warm: This dish is best served warm. You can enjoy it plain or with a drizzle of caramel sauce, whipped cream, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • Use stale bread for better texture.
  • Feel free to customize with your favorite mix-ins.
