Ingredients
Scale
1 cup unsalted butter
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
½ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Sea salt for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Melt Butter: In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
Mix Sugar and Eggs: In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Stir well. Then, add the eggs one at a time, mixing until fully incorporated.
Add Vanilla: Stir in the vanilla extract until well blended.
Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Avoid over-mixing.
Pour Batter: Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
Add Caramel Layer: Drizzle the caramel sauce over the brownie batter, spreading it out evenly.
Top with Remaining Batter: Carefully pour the remaining brownie batter over the caramel layer, spreading it gently to cover.
Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
Cool: Remove from the oven and let the brownies cool in the pan for about 15-20 minutes.
Cut and Serve: Once cooled, cut into squares and sprinkle with sea salt if desired.
