Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Season salmon and shrimp generously with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add potatoes to boiling water and cook until fork-tender, about 15 minutes.
  4. While potatoes cook, heat olive oil in the skillet. Sear salmon fillets for 4–5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and keep warm.
  5. Add shrimp to the same pan and cook for 2–3 minutes until pink and opaque.
  6. Drain potatoes, then mash with butter, heavy cream, salt, and pepper until silky and smooth.
  7. Squeeze lemon juice over salmon and shrimp for brightness. Adjust seasoning in potatoes to taste.
  8. Serve mashed potatoes first, then top with salmon fillets and shrimp. Garnish with fresh parsley or lemon wedges.

Notes

  • Pat seafood dry before seasoning for a perfect sear.
  • Warm cream before adding to potatoes for a smoother mash.
  • Use fresh seafood for the best flavor and texture.
  • Do not overcrowd the skillet; cook in batches if necessary.
  • Adjust Cajun seasoning to your preferred spice level.
