Ingredients
Scale
4 large onions (yellow or red)
¼ cup balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Prepare the Onions: Peel the onions and slice them into wedges or rounds, depending on your preference.
Mix the Marinade: In a large bowl, combine the balsamic vinegar, olive oil, honey (or maple syrup), salt, and black pepper. Stir well.
Coat the Onions: Add the sliced onions to the bowl and toss until they are evenly coated with the marinade.
Arrange on Baking Sheet: Spread the onions in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or lightly greased.
Roast: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast for 30-35 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the onions are tender and caramelized.
Garnish: If desired, sprinkle fresh thyme or rosemary over the onions just before serving.
Serve Warm: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
