Ingredients
Scale
2 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken thighs
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons of honey
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon five-spice powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon red food coloring (optional)
Green onions, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
In a bowl, combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, five-spice powder, black pepper, and red food coloring (if using).
Marinate the Chicken: Place the boneless chicken thighs in a large resealable bag or bowl. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for maximum flavor.
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare for Baking: Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup. Place a wire rack on top of the baking sheet.
Arrange the Chicken: Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Place the chicken thighs on the wire rack.
Bake the Chicken: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Baste the chicken with the leftover marinade halfway through cooking for extra flavor.
For a caramelized finish, broil the chicken on high for an additional 2-3 minutes, watching carefully to avoid burning.
Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Slice the chicken into thin strips and garnish with chopped green onions if desired.
