Irresistible Texas Roadhouse Smothered Chicken with Jack Cheese

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded Jack cheese
  • ½ cup diced green onions (for garnish)
  • ½ cup cooked bacon bits (optional)
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your choice of brand)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Rub this spice mixture all over the chicken breasts.
  4. In a large oven-safe skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken breasts and sear for 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Pour BBQ sauce over the seared chicken, ensuring each piece is well coated.
  6. Sprinkle shredded Jack cheese evenly over the BBQ sauce.
  7. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with diced green onions and bacon bits if desired.
  9. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving.
